Volunteering Is Fun!
Be A Big
We have, on average, about 160 children right here in our community waiting to matched with a supportive adult.
National and state statistics show that children who are mentored are more likely to improve in school and in their relationships with family and peers, and less likely to skip school or use illegal drugs or alcohol. Students who are successful in school are less likely to drop out, become pregnant, abuse drugs or become involved in criminal activity. The success of children who are mentored is apparent in the following statistics. In a nationwide study, Little Brothers and Little Sisters were:
- 52% less likely to skip school
- 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs
- More likely to get along with their families and peers
Big Brothers
Being a Big Brother is one of the most rewarding things you will ever do. As a Big Brother, you get to be a kid again for an hour a week while you give a kid the invaluable gift of your friendship. Of the hundreds of boys waiting for a Big Brother right now, there’s one wanting to play video games, shoot hoops, or just hang out with someone just like you! Big Sisters
Being a Big Sister is simple and rewarding. It is as easy as showing your new Little Sister how to play a game, bake cookies or reading the funnies together. We’ve learned that being someone special to a child doesn’t take much more than that. But the impact is huge—for both of you! Find out more about being a Big Sister.

Debbie signed up to be a Big Sister at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana for what she thought was a self-less act, but now 10 years later, she realizes she wound up finding her true self thanks to her Little, Jocelyn.
